Museum-Cinema: Cinematic Fridays at the Museum / McQueen, 2018
Following the success of the series last year, Tel Aviv Museum of Art is once again presenting Cultural Fridays!
Almost every Friday, the finest films about art and culture will be screened, preceded by a short lecture by one of the Museum’s curators. This collaboration between the Museum, the EPOS International Festival of Art and Culture Films, the Third Ear, and the Docaviv Festival allows film aficionados to enjoy captivating and thought-provoking films from around the world, as well as a visit to exhibitions of master artists from Israel and abroad.

He aimed for goosebumps; he wanted blood, fire, and pillars of smoke, and for ambulances to arrive. Lee Alexander McQueen, the British rogue, designed coats with human hair lining, and used runways to showcase robots, trampled nylon dresses, and recreations of crime scenes. His real life was no less inspirational, painful, and theatrical. McQueen rose from the bottom: at his first fashion show, he bought fabrics with his unemployment benefits and gave interviews with his back to the camera to avoid getting caught. Passion, determination, and genius led him to head the Givenchy fashion house, while continuing to design his own brand—wild, unpredictable, and always scandalous. His short life’s story is accompanied by excerpts from his journals, memories of him and his close ones, and an impressive soundtrack by renowned composer Michael Nyman.
