Nocturnal Tour and Sketch Following the Exhibition The Garden—Yael Moria, Studio MA

A guided tour and unique drawing workshop weaving between the garden in the gallery and the museum's sculpture garden

An invitation to wander along the paths of two fundamentally different gardens—both illuminated by the soft light of evening and night, each filled with the sounds of nature and the scents of vegetation.

In the exhibition The Garden—Yael Moria, Studio MA, The Garden, one eighth of an acre—the gallery’s total area—has been transformed into a plot full of knolls, trees, and bushes (some gathered in nature, others made of plastic and silk). The environment looks familiar but raises doubts as to how natural it is and about the meaning of a garden.

The museum’s Sculpture Garden is an urban natural space nestled between the museum’s two buildings. It holds key milestones in the history of modern and contemporary sculpture—Israeli and international.

The first part of the event includes a guided tour through both gardens, exploring the tension between natural and artificial elements within and beyond the museum space.

The second part is a nocturnal nature drawing workshop in the museum’s sculpture garden, where special lighting will illuminate areas for the activity. Participants will experiment with a variety of materials and techniques, practicing rapid observation and sketching in a natural setting.

The tour and workshop will be led by Evie Fridel – illustrator, artist, and educator, and a guide in the Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s Education Department.
